It is always possible that your old heating element for your La Pavoni Europiccola, La Pavoni Romantica, La Pavoni Stradivari or your Gaggia 105 burns or gets a short. The other option is that you purchased a old model La Pavoni Europiccola and you want to convert your classic lever espresso machine to a proper 120V version.
This model of heating element gives 1000W at 120V, there is also a 1200W 120V model. You will find this item on the overview page. The entire heating element has been made from stainless steel. The flange base is made from pressed stainless steel. As well for the heating element coils. The heating element comes with a silicone heating element gasket (it is a o ring)
The flange has a outer diameter of 84mm. the immersed length of the stainless steel coils in the boiler are 46mm. The heating element has 2 poles. Each pole has 2 male spade connectors of 6,3x0,8mm. There has also been welded a metal stud onto the bottom of the heating element. This has been done to attach the safety thermostat to the bottom of the element.
To make it possible to install the Ma-ter pressure switch on the boiler, there has been made a hole in the bottom of the heating element. You need to screw in the copper tube, bend it and then you can attach the pressure switch.
This heating element is not suitable with the early models of boiler flange. It can only be used with the Bakelite and newest brass ring from la Pavoni (31104702).
How do I install a 120V heating element on my La Pavoni Europiccola?
The installation of a 120V heating element is straight forward. You first need to remove the plug from the socket (of course let the machine cool off and remove the water from the boiler. Remove the plastic base from the bottom. There are 3 Allen bolts M5x10mm which hold the heating element in its place. Remove those and you can take off the heating element of the bottom of your boiler.
First clean the surface of the boiler where the heating element is going to be. If there are imperfections/dirt or whatsoever the chance of leaks increases.
Install the o ring in the groove of the heating element. Place the heating element back on the boiler. Put the 3 Allen bolts back in the female threads and screw them in by hand. They should go in smoothly, if they go in difficult, you’re probably going to cross thread them.
