On this page you will find the heating element thermostat for the La Pavoni Europiccola, La Pavoni Stradivari and the La Pavoni Professional. This thermostat is also suitable for the Gaggia 105-106.
The thermostat breaks the connection when the temperature becomes 127 degrees Celsius, this is a manual safety switch. The thermostat itself is suitable to use up to 16A at 250V. The thermostat is connected to the bottom of the stainless-steel Backer heating element. There is a metal threaded stud welded on the heating element where it can be attached to.
Why is there a thermostat on my La Pavoni Europiccola and Professional?
There are 2 reasons.
If your boiler runs dry of water, the heating element in the boiler can’t give it’s energy to the water and the heating element at the bottom of the heating element will increase and eventually your element wires will burn themselves.
The other option is that if the pressure switch and safety valve aren’t working. The pressure switch can’t switch off the element and the safety valve can’t release it’s pressure the pressure will increase. Eventually everything has a breaking point.
But when the temperature rises above 127 degrees at the base of the heating element the thermostat will disconnect the power supply to the heating element.
How do I reset my thermostat?
First investigate why the thermostat disconnected the heating element before just switching the machine back on again.
You need to remove the plastic base of the machine and on the element you will see the thermostat. Push the small red button inwards and then it will be working again.
